Weather, In Depth

Rain chance % is the odds that measurable rain falls somewhere in the area during that window — not that it rains the whole time or right on top of you. A 55% chance often means on-and-off showers, not a soaked afternoon.
Rain amount is the bigger tell for how bad it'll actually feel: under ~0.10" total is light/passing, 0.10–0.25" is a steady soak-your-shirt rain, above that starts to get genuinely miserable.
Thunderstorm % is the one that actually threatens play — courses pause for lightning, not for plain rain. A high storm chance matters more than a high rain chance.

Sleeping Four
Three bedrooms for four of us — everybody gets their own bed, with two of us sharing the double-queen room. Two full bathrooms. Deck with a delightful view of the 3rd hole of Pinehurst No. 5. Full kitchen, washer/dryer, and room to spare.
Photos are representative — the condos are individually owned, so our actual unit may differ.
The Rhythm
Breakfast at the Carolina Hotel or Pl8te every morning, shuttle to the tee, shower back at the condo, then out to dinner. Nothing is more than fifteen minutes away.
Logistics

Getting There

Wednesday Night
Tyler + Kyle · The Westin RDU Airport
Two-queen guest room. Tyler checks in that morning and adds Kyle as an authorized guest. Head straight there after you land; Tyler's back late from dinner in Chapel Hill.
On the Ground
Tyler and Kyle collect the rental car Thursday morning, grab Granger at RDU on the way, and it carries us all weekend. Inside the resort, call the shuttle for transpo within Pinehurst Resort. Tobacco Road to RDU is about 45 minutes.
Day One · Thursday, October 1

Arrival & No. 10

Rental car, an airport pickup, a bonus round for three, casual welcome night.
No. 10
The Day
Morning
Tyler and Kyle check out of the Westin, grab the rental car and collect Granger at RDU (in 8:28 am). On the road by 9:30ish.
~10:45 am
Check-in at the Carolina Hotel. If the condo is ready we drop our stuff; if not, the resort holds bags and routes the clubs to No. 10.
11:45 am
Lunch at Station 21
Tyler, Kyle and Granger at the Sandmines clubhouse.
1:36 pm
Tyler, Kyle and Granger. Walking only — free push carts available. Tom Doak's sandmine site: wide and wild.
4:35 pm
Colin lands at RDU and takes an Uber down to the village, about 75 minutes — timed just about perfectly to meet us coming off 18.
Evening
Casual welcome dinner in the old steam plant — barbecue and beer, walk-in only.
Pinehurst No. 10 Station 21 Pinehurst Brewing Co.
Pack for Today
Granger — travel in golf-ready clothes. Nothing fancy tonight.
Day Two · Friday, October 2

The Cradle & No. 8

Best warm-up in golf, then the real thing.
The Cradle
No. 8
The Day
Morning
Breakfast included at the Carolina Hotel or Pl8te.
10:10 am
Walking nine short holes, music playing, drinks in hand. Vibes 🆝 The starter hands out a small Sunday bag for your wedges and putter, so nobody needs to bring their own.
~11:30 am
Bite at Cradle Crossing
The Cradle takes about an hour, so there's a comfortable window. Cradle Crossing is the halfway house right at the course — grab and go. No. 8's clubhouse grill is the backup.
12:40 pm
Carts included. Fazio's centennial course — quieter, more wooded, a genuinely good test.
Late Afternoon
Settle up over a drink, then back to the condo to change.
8:00 pm

Reservation. Farm-to-Table + craft cocktails.
After: Stroll the Broad Street bars.

Day Three · Saturday, October 3

No. 2

The centerpiece. Caddies, crowned greens, and a drink at the Deuce after.
No. 2
The Day
Morning
Sleep in a little. Breakfast, relaxed start — the tee isn't until 1:10.
10:00–11:15
A ten-minute walk from the clubhouse. Worth it for the history before you play the ground it happened on.
~11:30 am
Main clubhouse for a bite, warm-up, range balls and caddie check-in.
1:10 pm
Full walking caddies confirmed. Ross's turtleback greens reject anything soft — listen to your caddie and putt from off the green.
Post-Round
Drinks at the Deuce, overlooking the 18th green. Best seat on property.
8:30 pm
On property. Collared shirt required. T-shirts and hats not permitted. Short walk home afterward.

Caddie Cash
We're going to want all the help we can get. Double-bag fee $85 per bag, charged day of play. Recommended gratuity minimum $65 cash per player. Bring it with you.
Day Four · Sunday, October 4

Tobacco Road

Early checkout, blind tee shots, and the best finale on the trip.
Tobacco Road
The Day
Early
Coffee, quick breakfast, finish packing. Bags in the car before you leave — we are not coming back.
Checkout
Early checkout from the condo to make the Tobacco Road start.
7:45 am
Depart Pinehurst. It's about 30–40min to Tobacco Road.
9:00 am
Mike Strantz's masterpiece — enormous sand scars, blind shots, and fairways far wider than they look. Bring extra balls. Riding — a GPS golf car is included with the green fee, so no bags to carry.
~1:15–1:30
Expected finish. No rush — a beer and a bite in the barn before we load the bags.
~2:15 pm
Leave for RDU, about 45 minutes. Target arrival 3:00–3:15 pm.

Know Before You Go

Weather
Low 60s → low 90s
Thursday and Friday were warm, sunny, and dry. Saturday brought periods of rain and a thunderstorm, heaviest during the No. 2 round and into the evening. Sunday eases up some — a stray early storm gives way to a calmer, cloudy morning for the Tobacco Road tee time, with thunderstorm chances returning by evening. Pack rain gear for the finale.
Walking
Three of four on foot
No. 10 and the Cradle walking, No. 2 with caddies. Only No. 8 has carts.
Dress Code
Collared, no denim
Layers. For Fri/Sat dinner: no gym shorts, no ballcaps.
The Numbers
Costs · Current 3-Bedroom Condo

Before resort fee & tax
Colin is on the standard B&B package — three nights, three rounds, breakfast daily. The rest of us are on that same package, custom-built to add Thursday's round on No. 10 before he lands.

No. 10 premium—$125$125$125
No. 2 premium$250$250$250$250

Why it moved
Dropping from six to four lost us the double-occupancy rate on the 3-bedroom — +$480 per person. Switching to a 2-bedroom gives that $480 back. Also for transparency: the $250 No. 2 premium wasn't in the previous itinerary — it's included here now.
What's not in it
Resort fee and tax, caddie fees and gratuity, dinners, drinks, rental car, Tobacco Road greens fee (~$280).
